Bat: Animal Meditation Club 11/17

This week, 11/17/25 we meditated with bat essence. As usual the animal is unknown to the participants (but not to me).

Meditation

First Impressions:

•I see white wings on my back (like an angel’s), hooves, with sky all around (day time).

•Hearing a matter of fact: "We like to have sex. Our babies stay close, and that’s good."

Body feelings/experiences:

•I have some trouble breathing. A feeling of being caught in the chest.

• Blood is going to my head, to the point where it feels like it is dripping off my head. My neck is stretching—all the way to one side, then the other; it is unwinding.  My body wants to bend forward, to put my head down. I think of head stand in yoga. They say “Neck mobility is very important for navigating space.” They show me flying and wheeling around with their neck and ears. They show neck mobility is also important for seeing how your children are doing—they are hanging and look at their children nearby. I feel rotation around ears (which are huge in this experience), gentle movements—showing me the ways ear can gather information.
•Strong lower legs and feet. They feel very rigid.
•Ears—“Our ears are like flowers. I can hear sweet things, too.” They tell me, “Everything you are doing in vision therapy for your eyes, we can do for your ears.”

•Neck going side to side to be freer. Being told “Your neck is way too tight.”

•My second chakra is active. Creativity and balance are in my awareness.

•I am releasing energy, letting go, yawning is a sign of that for me.
•Serpentine feeling in my body—side to side, back and forth—the movements feel balanced throughout the experience.
•I had a little difficulty breathing.
•Very peaceful

Visions:

•I see a fox running on the ground. They stop and look into a hole. Inside are amethyst crystals poking up, and flowers. There is also a small snake weaving through the crystals.* The fox is like “whatever” and continues around the hole. It comes up to a tree. There is a plantain in the tree acting as a pointer, gesturing up. The fox climbs the tree to the top, and then howls up into the night sky. The starry sky shook/rotating back and forth a little, and then the stars rotated together until it became a yellow sky with lots of clouds (day time). The fox sunbathes at the top of the tree.
*The snake was more like how I visualize the kundalini, not a garden snake. It was sort of gray and translucent.

•Bats hanging around upside down with friends, warm chests.

•I see a little snake, black (or dark brown) and yellow.

•Image of a spiral going up, like an energetic Fibonacci sequence.
•I see a hole in the ground and I want to crawl in and go to sleep.

•I see a mountain lion laying in the sun, tail twitching. There is a sense of a balance between work and play, more like 50/50 than 80/20.

•Being very high up and getting a really good perspective, like for safety.

Synthesis

We get a sense for bat lifestyle through feelings of moving through space in flight, hanging in community, seeing the environment (hollows, crystals, snakes, other animals they see), their enjoyment of the sky, their enjoyment of the night, sweet things, resting, sunbathing?, sexuality, caring for children. A general sense of connection, creative flow, and balance of work and play.

A couple experiences of chest/breathing problems. Bats have strong immune systems and become virus carriers. This can cause people to be afraid of them because of threats to health. It is said that if a bat is hurt by a virus it should be considered a dangerous threat, since they are normally quite resistant. It is possible we could learn from bat consciousness how to manage viruses better.

Experiences of ears/hearing. Hearing is the number sense for bats, and this can be a helpful area for their energy to support healing and improved function in hearing and the vestibular system. Outside of this meditation: When I took bat for the first time (it cleared my hearing issues I had had post-concussion for over a year, immediately--you can hear about it in my video Intro to Animal Meditation Club

Experiences of neck unwinding, stretching, and communications about the importance of a relaxed, healthy neck for being safe moving (part of locating/vestibular system), caring for loved ones etc.

Bats appear to spend a lot of time enjoying sex, with sessions typically around 55 minutes, but the longest recorded is over 12 hours long. Both genders appear to get a lot out of sex. Some bat species have very large penises (plantain vs bananas, if you will--although that plantain in the tree was strictly to point the way up). In some species, the penis can be so big (for example 80% of body length when erect) that they make penetration impossible. Instead sex happens through rubbing and otherwise stimulating each other's genitals. With all that sex and familial closeness I wondered about forced sex and incest. Bat communities are often, but not always matrilineal or matriarchal--women often living in close communities, with men dispersing. Some female bats have developed tails that help protect them from unwanted advances. Some species (read up) female offspring may share sex partners with mom and even grandma, but not engage with sex with their father (ie if the male bat started as mom's partner, it is a new partner--not the father). They appear to have very accurate ways of avoiding this kind of problem.

Possible Uses/Areas for Further Exploration

Chinese Medicine Organ Affinity: Kidney, associated with the color black, deep inner levels (caves), sexual energy, and ears.

Chakra: Second/Sacral/Swadhisthana--creativity, sexuality, desire/wanting, sensual life--these are pollinators.

Illness Health: Chest flus/viruses, neck mobility, ears, vestibular health.

Behavioral: Joy in community, being close to children, and sexual partners, enjoyment of sex in both genders, women congregate, males tend to be more dispersed. Possibly: healing the brain (increased blood flow) through behavior/positions.

Overall Vibe: Contentment--balancing work and play, focus on closeness, sex, warmth, caring/enjoying.
