Fox, Animal Meditation Club, 12/1/25

This week we meditated with fox energy. The animal energy is unknown to the participants until after meditation (but not to me).

MEDITATION

Body Experience

I feel a warmth in my chest, an excited heart.

Visions

A male is keeping guard; he gets the food. “How else can I help?” He has a friendly, supportive energy. He says “I sometimes would like to just look at her. But I need to be alert to act fast. I can act fast. She needs to rest and be with baby.” He waits and organizes his life around his mate.

I feel shifted into a fox, his energy shape is mine. He is showing me how he likes to look around, watching, waiting outside the den. He is laying down, but can spring into action.

I see I have a muzzle. Then I am up high, looking down over the river.

There is a strong sense of connection with my immediate family and pet. Like a group energy body.

I ask what it can be used for. The male wants to be supportive and respectful and is eager to do so. The animal suggests this could help men be good partners.

I see a white, thick rope. I think of all the threads it takes to make a rope. It is like a tendon.

There is a gesture, like a Georgia O’Keefe—a tubular flower opening up and out.

I see white waves, almost like a cloth.

It is breezy, then windy.

There is a river below, the sound is constant through night and day, it never rests. It is like the energy of consciousness. Water as spirit. I felt like an owl in a tree. I am going to be unconscious soon, but the river goes on. There are different cycles of components of the environment and beings, and a sense of steadfastness to all of them.

Owls (or turkeys*) using human pelts as bedding.

A snake goes across the earth, it emerges out of someone’s mouth, sliding out onto the ground. It is like one of those green, painted, wooden, toy snakes you might get in your stocking.  It moves along the earth through a jungle of wooden blocks that keep growing on a bridge. The wood and the snake keep getting bigger and higher because the wooden blocks grow higher. Some sort of mysterious medium animal—maybe a turkey*, turned into a fox, and howled at the moon.

A sense of circular arms, inclusion around

Sense of creativity—not crafting, but creating our world/community. The energy is autonomous even as it participated in community.  A sense of supporting but not enabling. Calmness, slowness. This could be good to treat codependence—foster interdependence. Holding the family without having to do everyone’s stuff.

Thinking of ancestral “species” wisdom. For animals it is built in, for humans we learn a lot.

Synthesis

This animal was fox.

There were several indicators that this animal supports liver/gallbladder (in the Chinese medicine way), including: wind, tendons, green, wood. There is also a sense this supports the triplewarmer—uniting sense of coherence—all organs being part of the whole, or all community members being part of the whole. Both offer smooth flowing energy/consistency when in optimal health.

The wooden snake is an interesting metaphor. Wood element is associated with liver/gallbladder, the liver is the one organ that is capable of regeneration/transformation (like a wood snake I suppose). I’ll have to think about the snake vision a bit more. The clever dynamic nature of fox’s behavior (irl not in these peaceful visions) always makes me think of gallbladder energy—decisive, crafty, clever, surprising. I love it. Call on gallbladder energy when you start feeling angry, frustrated, or depressed because you feel stuck.

Primary messages from fox: devotion, interdependence, calmness, connection to family and land, even other species.

This is a subtle animal that seems to be able to fade in and out of our awareness in the in between times of day. Foxes and many owls are more active at the same time: crepuscular hours, dawn and dusk. They likely are part of the environment. Whereas foxes can seem invisible, owls work with being soundless. Invisibility medicine can be harnessed by being at one with the environment. Foxes are associated with invisibility and the experiences we had included a lot of oneness with the environment.

Suggested Use of the Essence or Areas for Further Experimentation for FOX

Support for being a good male partner (in the family) and support for interdependence.

*A Note on Turkeys

This meditation happened right after Thanksgiving. The vision of the owl/turkey sleeping on human pelts. On reflection, this seemed more like turkey to the participant. This felt like this might have been the collective rage of turkeys coming through to one of the few vegetarians in the world listening to animals. Can you imagine having so many of your kind slaughtered each year for a festival of gluttonous consumption?
