Brown Bear Herbs herbal cigarettes are tobacco-free and nicotine-free smoking blends made from organic or wild-crafted herbs such as mullein, lobelia, lavender, and other botanicals. They are crafted to provide a smoking alternative with herbs that address the underlying reasons you smoke. They contain NO addictive ingredients. When you use them you can smoke herbs that are likely to be more supportive (based on historical use of the plants) while at the same time breaking your addiction. When you break your addiction, you can quit smoking altogether or use our products to smoke when stress or social situations arise. Our herbal cigarettes are a risk-reduction method of quitting tobacco and nicotine products. They are also enjoyed by people who need to stop marijuana use for work or other restrictions.

They use natural herbs to create a smokeable blend that may satisfy the psychological and behavioral aspects of smoking, such as the hand-to-mouth ritual and using herbs that have been historically used for physical anxiety symptoms (Take It Easy), feeling overwhelmed (Gentle & Protective), focus and anxiety (Clear Mind), as well as social confidence (Sexy Smokes).

Can herbal cigarettes help me quit smoking tobacco?

Many customers report that using our blends helped them to quit tobacco. The specific blends include herbs historically used to address different aspects of why people smoke (social anxiety, focus, physical addiction). Smoking the herbal cigarettes replaces the ritual of smoking tobacco while avoiding nicotine, and therefore breaking the addiction. It is also possible to use the roll your own herbal smoking blends as tea. Brown Bear Herbs is a small company and we have not gone through the FDA approval processes. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How should I use herbal cigarettes if I’m trying to quit smoking?

If you consider yourself physically addicted to smoking tobacco, I recommend you start with Take it Easy. The herbs in it have been historically used to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms. Typically quitters can use 1-4 Take it Easy the first few days. Your goal is to quit, so do your best not to smoke at all and use these when you are getting really craving, or getting frustrated or irritable. Get enough packs of Take it Easy to last the first week or so. This is a great work break or post work smoke. It can help you get out of your head, neck, and shoulders. If you are past the initial withdrawal window, or are not physically addicted and just smoke situationally (as many report!) grab our popular sampler pack (My New Ciggies) to find your favorite blends. Alternatively, read the descriptions and pick the blends that sounds like they best matches your needs. I like them all during different situations. Smoke these instead of tobacco. I find that most people smoke far less often without the addiction. Brown Bear Herbs' smokers report the herbs tend to be soothing on a deeper and longer lasting level than tobacco. If you are not addicted, smoking 1-2 cigarettes a day during times of increased need is typical. Smoking anything habitually is hard on your body. If you find you are wanting to smoke more than that, let's chat! There are essence and tea formulas that could support you to reduce your smoking further, and deal with more individualized needs you have. Clear Mind was created for creatives and writers who smoke while they work, it is reported by customers to be helpful for anxiety, ADHD, and focus. It contains spearmint, linden, gotu kola, and mullein. Think post yoga vibes. A great solo smoke. Possible uses: ritual, centering, creative work, high-focus work (tax preparation, etc). Gentle and Protective contains herbs used to soothe emotional and energetic overwhelm. It contains lavender, mullein, and raspberry leaf. I think of it like a fairy godmother hug in a smoke. Possible uses: during acute depression related to a break-up or death (so you don't restart a tobacco addiction), to feel more psychic protection when overwhelmed by others' emotions or energy. Sexy Smokes is sensual, aphrodisiac, promotes confidence, and can be helpful for trauma recovery--with herbs that help you enjoy being in your body again. The blend contains damiana, blackberry leaf, rose, hibiscus, and mullein. Uses: solo, with partner (for sexy time), or socially (most people report feeling more confident socially with this one). Astral in Body: This blend is multi-faceted. It promotes eccentric conversations when smoked socially (Yarrow was traditionally quite the party herb, used in brews at weddings and other celebrations, and blue vervain and mugwort help connect with otherworldly vibes). When used ceremonially the herbs help connect with and balance lunar energies. It is also loved by women of a certain age, as mugwort is helpful for some hormonal profiles--I find this blend is more grounded than smoking mugwort by itself. It is made with mugwort, blue vervain, yarrow, agrimony, and mullein.

Great question! My herbal smoking blends are formulated to be as easy as they can on your lungs. Mullein is an herb that was traditionally smoked for lung health in multiple cultures. I find that adding mullein to any smoking blend makes it more comfortable on your lungs. It is not a filler, it is an amazing herb with a great track record. How do you smoke Brown Bear Herbs' herbal cigarettes? Do I inhale?

Smoke Brown Bear Herbs' herbal cigarettes like you would a normal tobacco cigarette. Many currently available herbal smoking blends are pretty harsh and are not intended to be inhaled--rather they are smoked like a cigar. Ours should be as gentle or more gentle compared to regular tobacco cigarettes and more gentle than marijuana. Do NOT hold the smoke in like you would marijuana. This style of smoking is very hard on your lungs and part of the reason why marijuana tests as worse for your lungs per inhalation than tobacco(!).

Are herbal cigarettes safe to smoke?

Herbal cigarettes are dangerous to your health. They produce tar and carbon monoxide. While our products contain no tobacco or nicotine, nor marijuana or any of its derivatives, inhaling smoke of any kind carries health risks. This is also true for cooking at the barbecue, sitting by the fire, etc. Brown Bear Herbs' herbal cigarettes are a risk reduction method of quitting tobacco, and can be a supportive choice for reducing or eliminating marijuana from your lifestyle. I don't encourage any habitual smoking, but am happy to offer a less risky smoking option when you need to (like stage or movie smoking) or want to quit.

What are good options for smoking for film and acting productions?

To protect the health of actors and other people working on film or theater productions, tobacco and marijuana are not allowed indoors and often in production in general. Clear Mind is the top choice for prop cigarettes. It is a light smoking blend, making it easier on actors' bodies and those getting the secondhand smoke. The herbs in it are formulated to help creatives do their work. Clear Mind has been used as a smoke producer in major productions (like Oppenheimer movie) to stand in for cigarette, marijuana, crack smoke, and more! Brown Bear Herbs operates out of Oregon (Portland area) and ships products nationwide within the United States. Customers on the West Coast typically experience faster delivery due to geographic proximity to our Oregon base.

We currently ship to Australia, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark. If you live in a country that is not on our list, feel free to reach out to inquire. During COVID-19 shipping restrictions changed dramatically, reducing our ability to ship internationally. However, since then some countries have relaxed restrictions. Other countries have restrictions that are strict and unrelated to the pandemic.

We offer flat rate shipping in the US, with free USPS ground shipping for orders over $30, and free USPS Priority 2-3 day shipping for orders over $60. How many cigarettes are there per pack and how do I use them?

Our packs contain 10 herbal cigarettes. They are used much like traditional cigarettes — light the tip fully and smoke mindfully — with herbs to satisfy the underlying reasons for smoking, rather than using addictive nicotine-containing products. Do not hold the smoke in like people often do with marijuana, this is very hard on your lungs.
