Freedom Quilt Video Series: Introduction,
All Brown Bear Herbs Herbalism & Tactics for Thriving Together Article comments count: 0

I am an artist and herbalist. During the Underground Railroad quilts were sometimes used as codes. The darker triangles could be used to point the way to safety. The quilt is made with cyanotype prints of herbs and flowers, and indigo dyed cloth. The project is informed by the mid-1800s. I made this flying geese quilt to educate those who much flee their homes for safety. The dark triangles are printed with herbs that have been traditionally used to help people "come home" again, or finding freedom and healing after oppressive or abusive situations. In this video I discuss the first herb: Werewolf root, the doorway in the quilt. This herb can be used as a flower essence or homeopathic to support people in manipulative or coercive situations. This could be related to intimate relationships, employers, or governments. Do not directly handle the herb, it is a toxic plant. Purchase this product from Brown Bear Herbs, link below, or other trusted sources. This is the first of a series of videos on all the herbs of the quilt.
