The new moon will be exact on Monday, January 31st, 2022 at 9:46 pm PST at 12 degrees 20 minutes of Aquarius.
Sabian symbol: A barometer.
This new moon is conjunct Saturn, the night ruler of Aquarius and square Uranus. This new moon highlights the pandemic-related problems of the last few years and offers us the ideal time to make new adjustments (future-focused new moon) to our societal structures and physical health (Saturn) to prevent further problems. The Sabian symbol for this degree is the barometer. This indicates that we are aware enough of the risks and trends that are likely to happen going forward. It is time to make changes, even if they are not fun (Saturn, lol) to work towards a safer world. Take some time this new moon to look at your body and think of your responsibility towards the bodies (Saturn) around you. Recommit to your own health. Make a plan and stick to it. Healthier people are less likely to be profoundly impacted by COVID-19. Recommit to masks, hand sanitation, and social distance (based on the astrology this should ease up in about a year, sorry folks).
As I have previously discussed Saturn square Uranus is an aspect that was often seen at the same time as pandemics and political uprisings throughout history. Oppressive measures that weaken the lower classes are often an aggravating or contributing factor to a pandemic. The current square of Saturn to Uranus (daytime ruler of Aquarius) in Taurus gives a sense of frustration for many at the ongoing changes and disruptions in everyday life (Taurus). Uranus wants to make changes. Start embracing them wherever you can. If the current factors or even changes are not healthy for Mother Earth (Taurus) they won't last long. Shipping stuff all over the world all the time is not sustainable. Take a new look at local craftmanship and family heirloom style purchasing. Buy fewer items with more longevity. Plan and save. Look at your food. Taurus is the sign of the bull. Uranus in Taurus asks us to look at the future/sustainability of our cow-based diets. One of the biggest things you can do for climate change is to go vegetarian or reduce meat. Reducing methane produced by cattle is considered one of the best opportunities to reduce climate change. Methane is a more potent greenhouse gas than CO. It also takes 2.5 pounds of grain to make 1 pound of beef. Think of how many more people could have full bellies on a plant based diet. Instead of feeding cows, killing them and then feeding humans we can directly feed people. Just as importantly, the treatment of animals in factory-produced meat is atrocious. Consider a plant-based diet to reduce your environmental footprint and work for nonviolence in the food chain. To be honest, even as a former vegan, I am not that excited about eliminating dairy but, it feels like it is time. If you can't commit to a total change, consider eating plant-based 5-6 days a week and stick to the plan.
The North Node has just entered Taurus, the sign of truly enjoying the abundance of the Earth. Our focus is shifting from dramatic changes of Uranus to finding a way to Earthly life enjoyable and secure too. Taurus loves quality, scrumptious, pretty food. This sign loves quality aesthetics through home furnishings, gardening, and art. Taurus appreciates that things take time. Uranus doesn't wait and we have been and will continue to be pushed into changes in our daily lives til it moves into Gemini in 2025. Dig in to how this can be pleasurable. Start getting into beautifully plated organic plant-based recipes. Learn how to make quality furniture, try home decor sewing, or restyle your space with lots of air-purifying house plants.
We can be serious and responsible (Saturn) and still find life rich and pleasurable (Taurus' joys), it just takes some flexibility in perspective.
Mercury is in retrograde for a little longer. It helps us review the past. When we do it is not hard to see what will help the greater good. A pleasant set of aspects of this new moon involves Mars and Venus (starting and finishing energies) in Capricorn trine to Uranus, and Jupiter in Pisces sextile to both. Our actions can be very fruitful at this time for conservative, resourceful (Capricorn) changes (Uranus) related to our home, daily life, work, and physical health. Jupiter supporting these planets gives us compassion, expansiveness, and luck to make changes that support our Earthly lives and the greater good.
Let's all make gorgeous vision boards of our sustainable and lush future and through everyday practical steps and the collective unconscious move in that direction.
My best to you,
